Dosage
For oral administration, Ampicillin Dispersible Tablets can be swallowed directly with water, or put into milk or fruit juice, and taken after being stirred to suspension.
1. Adults 0.5-1g at a time, 3-4 times a day; Children should take it 3-4 times a day according to their body weight of 50-100mg/kg.
2. For the treatment of acute urinary tract infection without complications, 3g can be taken orally once, or 3g dose can be increased again after 10-12 hours. A single dose of 3g can also be used to prevent infective endocarditis or treat gonorrhea. The former is given 1 hour before oral surgery (such as tooth extraction), and the latter is often added with 1g probenecid.
Adverse effect
1. A few patients may have digestive tract reactions such as nausea, vomiting, anorexia and diarrhea, which generally do not affect the treatment.
2. Occasionally, rash, macula, purpura, etc. may occur, and the drug should be stopped immediately.
Matters need attention
Penicillin intradermal sensitivity test must be carried out before use Ampicillin Dispersible Tablets, and those who are positive are prohibited.
Patients with mononucleosis and lymphocytosis have more chances of rash.
There is cross-allergy and cross-resistance with penicillins and cephalosporins.
Similar to other broad-spectrum antibiotics, double infection caused by non-sensitive microorganisms such as Candida albicans may occur, especially those with chronic diseases and autoimmune dysfunction.

Pharmacology and toxicology
As a broad-spectrum semisynthetic penicillin, it has antibacterial effects on hemolytic streptococcus, Streptococcus viridis, pneumococcus, penicillin G-sensitive Staphylococcus aureus, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Haemophilus influenzae, enterococcus, Salmonella, Typhoid Bacillus and Proteus. It has no effect on Staphylococcus aureus producing penicillinase. Bacteria are completely cross-resistant to this product and ampicillin.
