Gentamycin Sulfate Injection

Gentamicin injection is used to treat serious bacterial infections in many different parts of the body. Gentamicin belongs to the class of medicines known as aminoglycoside antibiotics. It works by killing bacteria or preventing their growth.

Amikacin injection is used to treat serious bacterial infections in many different parts of the body. This medicine is for short-term use only (7 to 10 days). Amikacin belongs to the class of medicines known as aminoglycoside antibiotics. It works by killing bacteria or preventing their growth.

Applications of Aminoglycoside Antibiotics Injection

● Blood infections (septicemia)
● Infections of the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord (meningitis)
● Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
● Lung infections (such as bronchitis or pneumonia)
● Infections of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract
● Skin infections, including severe burns
● Bone and joint infections
● Infections of the heart and heart valves (endocarditis)

Dosage

Adults: Intramuscular injection or intravenous drip. Simple urinary tract infection was 0.2g per 12 hours for patients with common antimicrobial resistance. For other systemic infections 7.5mg/kg every 12 hours, or 15mg/kg every 24 hours. Adults should not exceed 1.5g a day, and the course of treatment should not exceed 10 days.

Children: Intramuscular injection or intravenous drip. The first dose is 10mg/kg body weight, followed by 7.5mg/kg every 12 hours, or 15mg/kg every 24 hours.

Patients With Renal Dysfunction: Creatinine clearance > 50-90ml/min should be given 60%-90% of the normal dose (7.5mg/kg) every 12 hours; Creatinine clearance of 10-50ml/min is 20%-30% with 7.5mg/kg every 24-48 hours.

Precautions for Taking Aminoglycoside Antibiotics Injection

● Low potassium (hypokalemia), magnesium (hypomagnesemia), or calcium (hypocalcemia) levels
