Dosage and Administration:

 

Intramuscular injection:

Adults: 4–6 g daily, divided into 4 doses.

Children: Weight-based dosing (12.5–25 mg every 6 hours).

 

Intravenous infusion:

Adults: 4–8 g daily, divided into 2–4 doses.

Severe infections: Daily dose may increase to 12 g.

 

Adverse Effects:

Allergic reactions (such as urticaria), serum sickness-like reactions.

Nausea, vomiting, elevated serum aminotransferases (with intravenous use).

Central nervous system toxicity (seizures) at high doses.

 

Precautions:
